It is an undeniable fact that the first movies, which were silent movies, were all comedies. These movies had good happy endings and propagated the theme of good winning over the bad. They placed much emphasis on humor and as such they siphoned great interest among the young and the old alike. With the passage of time, the lighthearted comedies gave way to more important social and political satires.

These movies helped people to understand the prevailing conditions through humor and wit. For example, in the well-liked film, ‘comedy of manners’, much emphasis was based on the manners and mannerisms of the social class. It was highlighted by the witty and catchy dialogues. Swapping gender roles in some films like ‘Tootsie’ also created humor and was adored by the audience.

Spoof or parody deals in making fun of, or dealing in a humorous way the plots and themes of the earlier classic films. They treat the subject by employing a wide sense of sarcasm, mockery, etc about the scenes of the old popular films. It is sometimes found that the audiences enjoy these spoofs better than the original movie! Some of the glaring examples of these sorts of movies are ‘Blazing saddles’, ‘Airplane’, etc.

Black comedies are those movies that deals with subjects that are taboo and are not discussed openly in the society. It also includes subjects like war, death, murder, suicide, etc in a satirical way. Though, it is filled with witty dialogues and fun plots, they are able to make the audience realize their follies in the way they deal with some sensitive topics in the society. Some of the most popular black comedies are, ‘War of the Roses’, ‘Keeping Mum’, etc.

The different genres in comedy include the Action comedy, Comedy horror, Fantasy comedy, Sci-fi comedy and Military comedy.

The term “early music” sometimes causes confusion. As a very casual indication, music from the 1400s is early music in the sense which we use here, whereas music from the 1940s is not. The context is European classical music, which had its best-known pieces written in the 1700s & 1800s, and so the “early” in early music means earlier than that. In this way, early music usually designates the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods of Western music. Early Music is a standard term, used in trade magazines, journals, record store classical sections, etc.

Good comedy movies can lift your spirits after a tough week, and there’s even scientific evidence to suggest a link between laughter with improved health. While I’m no Patch Adams, I do care about the well-being of my readers, so that’s why I’ve put together this list of good comedy movies that might otherwise go unnoticed. A few modern comedy classics are included, but you’ll also find foreign comedies, cult comedies, and even classic comedies.

Groundhog Day (1993) – Phil Connors (Bill Murray) is a misanthropic television weatherman who’s unhappy about having to cover the annual Groundhog Day ceremonies in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. But imagine his surprise when a blizzard strands him in the small town, and Phil suddenly finds himself living the same day over and over. Murray is perfect as the wisecracking jerk who slowly finds redemption, and Andie MacDowell makes a beautiful love interest.

The Princess Bride (1987) – Framed as a fairy tale read by a grandfather (Peter Falk) to his sick grandson (Fred Savage), The Princess Bride tells the story of Westley (Cary Elwes), a farmhand who tries to reunite with his true love, Buttercup (Robin Wright), after being presumed dead. But Buttercup is in the clutches of the wicked Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon), and so Westley must seek help from the massive Fezzik (Andre the Giant) and a Spaniard named Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin). A wonderful comedy for all ages, it also features plenty of romance, fantasy, and action.

Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) – Cary Grant plays Mortimer Brewster, a newlywed who learns that his aunts and brother are completely insane. The two aunts have been poisoning elderly bachelors and burying them in the basement, and Mortimer’s brother is convinced that he’s Teddy Roosevelt. But things get even more complicated for Mortimer when his other brother, Jonathan (Raymond Massey), arrives. As it turns out, Jonathan is completely psychotic, and he’s soon plotting to kill the only stable member of the family. Despite the gruesome nature of the crimes committed, the film is a comedy (and a darn good one at that).

The Perfect Crime (2004) – A black comedy from Spain, The Perfect Crime follows Rafael (Guillermo Toledo), a department store salesman bucking for a promotion. He’s also slept with every woman in his department expect one: the homely Lourdes (Monica Cervera). But when an accident suddenly produces a fresh corpse, Rafael finds himself in debt to Lourdes, and she intends to collect…with a vengeance.

The Big Lebowski (1998) – If you’d like to experience what’s been called “the first cult film of the Internet era,” then be sure to watch this slacker comedy from Joel and Ethan Coen. Jeff Bridges stars as The Dude, a stoner who’s mistaken for a millionaire with the same name and drawn into a web of intrigue. Hardcore fans attend an annual celebration known as Lebowski Fest, and the film is chock-full of quotable dialogue. Also starring John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Sam Elliott.

The Kentucky Fried Movie (1977) – Before Airplane! and the Naked Gun films, writers Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker created this zany sketch comedy film that parodies everything from educational films to kung-fu flicks. The unusual cast includes Bill Bixby, Tony Dow, Donald Sutherland, and George Lazenby. Directed by John Landis, who would later helm successful comedies such as National Lampoon’s Animal House, Trading Places, and Three Amigos.

Hollywood Shuffle (1987) – Robert Townsend directed, produced, co-wrote, and stars in this tale of an actor struggling to make it big in Hollywood. Filled with humorous daydreams and spoofs lampooning the stereotypical roles often given to minorities, the film was paid for with Townsend’s credit cards. A number of future stars make appearances, including Keenan Ivory Wayans and Damon Wayans.

The Kid (1921) – The Tramp (Charlie Chaplin) takes in an abandoned child (Jackie Coogan), cares for him, and teaches him the finer points of being a con-man. But when welfare workers try to separate the duo, the Tramp is willing to do whatever it takes to be reunited. As with most classic comedies from Chaplin, the film mixes laughs with moments of sadness and social commentary. It’s a silent film, by the way, but don’t let that stop you from experiencing the magic of Chaplin.

Cabin Boy (1994) – Former David Letterman writer Chris Elliott stars as Nathaniel Mayweather, the arrogant heir to a hotel empire. Seeking to board the Queen Catherine to Hawaii, he instead stumbles onto a dilapidated fishing vessel named The Filthy Whore. Now stranded on the sea with an unhappy crew (including Brian Doyle-Murray and James Gammon), Nathaniel must earn his keep and contend with all the dangers of Hell’s Bucket, including a jealous giant (Mike Starr), an iceberg monster, and a cupcake that likes to spit tobacco. While it’s a bizarre comedy, it should be perfect for those whose taste in humor is unconventional.

Everyone has their favorite TV show and it would be possible to debate forever about which ones shine above the rest. However, over the course of popular television, there have been a few shows that have stood the test of time and have been adored by audiences of all ages.

It is difficult to imagine a show about surgeons in the midst of a war being funny, but that is exactly what M.A.S.H. was. The unique blend of drama and comedy had audiences laughing with the characters one moment and weeping for them the next. Although the show has been off the air for many years, it remains a favorite among audiences who watched it originally and those who are discovering it for the first time in syndication.

Just like M.A.S.H., The West Wing is a show that many people would not think could possibly be funny, and yet it was. Although it focused primarily on political themes and was, at its heart, a drama, it was known for having an underlying wit to the characters and storylines. The show had several writers over the years, but true fans believe that it was at its best when Aaron Sorkin was behind the wheel.

If the mark of the best TV show of all time is a show that integrated its way into everyday life, then there is no show that can compete with Seinfeld. The show coined a variety of phrases that people continue to use every day, such as “double dipping” and “close talker.” Although it often discussed topics that were somewhat taboo, it was never offensive and was enjoyed by almost everyone who watched it.

The best TV shows of all time are the ones that have made audiences run a gamut of emotions, from laughter to sadness. Shows like Seinfeld are beloved by audiences because they have made their way into everyday conversation, even years after they stopped filming. Everyone has their own favorite, but these shows have made a lasting impression on popular culture.

Recognition and appreciation is needed everywhere could be schools, businesses and other basic needs to be done for those who have contributed significantly to the work and proven asset to the organization. The best way to assess who is using a rewards and prizes by this custom is the best way to provide for an award. These awards have a message and logo of the organization and this can really convey the appreciation for this organization to its members.

One can get awards in any size and shape ranging from crystal awards, acrylic awards, wood trophies, watches etc. there are many options available when one has to choose and one has to choose the kinds they like and most importantly the ones that will suit the budget that they have set for these awards. The choice also will depend on the fact that the award is being given for what and to whom. Thus there are many factors which one will need to consider when one decides to give custom awards.

There are many organizations which choose watches when they have to give service awards. On the face of the watch they have the logo of the company and one can get these in any color and design that they decide and like and the one which is cost effective to them as well. Coaster weights and crystal paperweights can also be used to appreciate the services of a member of the organization. The appreciation message along with the logo of the company and sometime the name of the recipient make the right gift or the award.

With custom sales awards one can always ensure that their sales team remains motivated and these are always liked more than mere appreciation certificates. One can get the awards made in different shapes also and this makes them look different. One can choose a topic relevant to the job and then to fit with the title design. Custom awards always better than the prizes is to provide honest feelings of gratitude to the recipient and they always love and appreciate more. The base is an important part of any award and this was also carefully selected. Custom awards are a great way to appreciate the efforts of staff and other members of the organization and all one needs to do is carefully designed.

Annual music awards are a time for the fans to vote for their favorite musicians and give praise for their musical talents. Singers and bands not only get recognition and some type of fancy award, but their careers are usually increased in ratings. There are genre specific music awards, general awards, and online awards. Here is a look at an Internet radio awards and some other music awards.

Perhaps the most well known awards for music are the Grammy Awards show. It is an annual award given to musicians that are the best in the business. They receive a golden gramophone statuette that solidifies their place in the entertainment industry and their outstanding achievements. The Grammy Award is presented by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The categories you can win an award for are: best new artist, album of the year, song of the year, and record of the year. These categories are also handed out awards for certain genres.

There are other awards that take place every year that are genre specific. They are less prestigious than the Grammy’s but can still boost a musician’s career and get just as much hype and audience attention. Other annual awards are the County Music Awards, the MTV Video Music awards, Texas Music Awards, Independent Music Awards, and the Brit Awards for example. These music awards recognize achievements for musicians who make music in their genre such as country, hip hop, or alternative music.

Internet Radio is just as influential as traditional radio for promoting a band or singer. Annually, there are the Internet Radio Awards that are held online. You can vote for your favorite Internet radio station, and they will win an award for best program online. If you have a radio station online you can either nominate yourself or one of your listeners can nominate for an award. It is a great way to see what stations there are around the world and to recognize the hard work that your favorite Internet station does day to day to provide you with great music to listen to.

If you want to discover music from around the world, or nominate an Independent musician for their work, you can vote for them at the International Online Music Awards. They are held every year, and you can vote for your favorite Independent band or singer to win an award. A lot of popular mainstream artists have been discovered by their online music. The Internet is very powerful for boosting someone’s career.

The birthday is needless to say as popular as it always has been. However, the approach we take to celebrate the birthday has changed a whole lot during the last ten years or so. Obviously, the standard ways of marking the event still occur, specifically the postal card, colourfully decorated in a design that the receiver will feel is attractive aesthetically.

But the internet has caused a few big changes in the options that are put forth for those wishing to celebrate birthdays in various ways, and birthday ecards is among those ways. For many individuals, the ecard continues to be something of a mystery, but for the majority of web users their existence is actually well known.

You will find significant amounts of free birthday e cards available, and several people take advantage of these. It is often the truth, however, that these type of birthday ecards lack a particular level of functionality, they can not be personlised. However, you will finda wide selection of paid for birthday e cards that do accommodate this sort of personalisation, plus they are usually created to a better standard.

Ecards of most kinds, including birthday e cards, are usually created using applications like flash, that have been particularly developed for creating animations and which may be compacted effortlessly. This implies small files can in fact be impressively animated ecards. This program is also selected by ecard makers since you can add sound as well as music. The mixture of sound and moving images can be amazingly impressive, and the more you pay for the ecards the more this will be the case.

Perhaps the greatest thing regarding birthday ecards is how handy they are, both for the receiver as well as the sender. The sender won’t have to visit the post office and pick a card, it can just be done on the internet within a few minutes. Similarly, the birthday girl or boy won’t be encumbered with lots of paper or greeting card they don’t want. Overall, you will find numerous benefits of the ecard over conventional cards, even though both will probably co-exist for a long period to come.

3D movies are now so popular that now there are around 2,800 3D capable theaters all around United States. Concerts, movies and even sporting events are being produced in 3D, which adds that extra dimension of realism and enjoyment. In the past it hasn’t quite worked that way, now they seem to have cracked it.

The most exciting thing of all is that although we think it’s great now, it can only get better. Look at Avatar, a few years ago it wouldn’t have been so well done or been anywhere near as successful.

This is my top 3 movies that have been made using 3D technology. If you haven’t seen them you should check them out and see how much this technique has come on in recent years.

In 3rd place we have the stunning U2, this stands out as it was the first movie of its kind to bring a concert to life in the sense that we really felt as if we were there. This is an outstanding example of how the technology can be used in a completely different medium to ordinary movie making.

The quality of the sound and visuals are second to none. Everyone I spoke to who were lucky enough to see this felt exactly the same as I did. When you consider how few tickets for events like this actually go on sale, the sheer volume of people that more of these would attract is incredible.

2007 saw the release of Beowulf. This film had to be watched with the 3D glasses on. The ordinary version which you watched normally was really nothing very special.

Then when you popped on those glasses to watch the 3D version, the effects were fantastic. It enjoyed both critical and box office success and was really forerunner of the movies which have been released since. Many critics agree, as well as ordinary viewers, myself included.

No prizes for guessing what is top of my list, could it be anything else other than James Cameron’s masterpiece of 3D cinema, Avatar? The story has been criticized, but when a movie is produced which such visual beauty and is like nothing that has ever been seen before, so what? There has been a lot of time and effort put into this film, and now watch it reap its rewards come Oscar night.
